No website. Just social media. And that wasn't enough.
LORAK Films came to us with a problem that's more common than you'd think. They were an active, talented film collective, shooting short films, corporate videos and documentary work across Edinburgh and the Lothians, but their entire online presence was a couple of Instagram accounts and a Vimeo profile.
When they started reaching out to production companies and commercial clients, they kept hitting the same wall. People would ask for their website. When they explained they didn't have one, the conversation would often stall. In a creative industry where first impressions are everything, the lack of a proper web presence was costing them work before they'd even had a chance to show what they could do.
They needed somewhere to put it all together, a place that felt as cinematic and considered as the work itself and that gave potential clients and collaborators everything they needed to make a decision.
A dark, cinematic site built around the work.
We built LORAK a single-page site with a strong visual identity, dark backgrounds, clean typography and their own footage doing the talking. The design language matched the tone of their films: considered, atmospheric and unfussy.
- Full-width video hero with their showreel playing on loop, autoplay on desktop, tap-to-play on mobile
- Project gallery with hover overlays showing title, year and category, click through to embedded Vimeo players
- About section introducing the collective with individual bios and headshots
- Gear and credits page for industry contacts who wanted the technical detail
- Simple contact form that routes directly to their shared inbox
- Fully mobile-responsive with fast load times despite the video content
We handled all the copy, worked with their existing Vimeo archive and turned around a full working site within ten days of our initial call.
From invisible to in-demand.
Within six weeks of the site going live, LORAK had heard from two production companies they'd never spoken to before, both of whom found the site through a Google search and made contact via the form. The site also helped them land a retainer arrangement with a local charity for quarterly video content.
2 production company enquiries in 6 weeks
Both came directly through the contact form, from cold Google searches.
Retainer client secured at launch
A local charity signed up for quarterly video content shortly after the site went live.
Featured in a local arts round-up
The site gave journalists a proper place to link to when covering the collective's work.
"We'd been putting off getting a website for two years because we didn't know where to start. Wellington Web Co. made it easy, they understood what we were trying to do and just got on with it. The site looks exactly like us.", LORAK Films
